Hi, I too am trying this for the first time! I think this is great and thank you to Betty for setting it up. I do not have a scanner so cannot send pictures at this time but would like to get one.
Yes, Betty we remember riding in Grandpa's sleigh. I remember the bells. He said each family had bells with a different ring so the neighbors knew who was going by from the sound of their bells. We would go out on the pond and ride around too. He had a heavy horse blanket we used to keep warm. These are good memories.
We went to Canistota today. Chad and Lou Ann had their baby Dylan Tyce baptized at the Missouri Lutheran Church in Canistota. Mike and Lynn from Minneapolis were Dylan's sponsors. Lee and Sid were there and Chad's parents, grandparents and sister were also there. Dylan wore Chad's grandfather's baptismal gown which is over 80 years old and his Grandpa Yackel was there to witness the event. Evan had also worn his gown. Big brother Evan was three on Thanksgiving day. All of our family were home (except Adam and family) for Thanksgiving this year. There were 18 of us.
We are going to St Louis for Christmas to be with Laurie and her family and then we will be going up to Minneapolis to Lynn and Mikes after Christmas. Chad and Lou Ann and their boys will be at Chad's folks in Butterfield, Minnesota and will be coming up to Lynn and Mikes too. Lynn and Mike have a little boy Carlter. Carter will be a year old on January 10, 2008.
It was good to read your blog Nancy. Will you be at your daughter's near St Louis for Christmas? If you are maybe we could get together?
Carrie, Lee and Sid's daughter, will be graduating from SDSU in Brookings on Saturday morning December 15th. We plan to go to the happy event. Carrie will be receiving a teaching degree. She has been doing her practice teaching at an elementary school in Brookings and loves it. We are so happy for her.
I received the RR letters last week so will get them on their way tomorrow. We have snow and it is very cold here tonight. Keep on bloggin.... Audrey
