Happy New Year to the Threadgold Families
Mark and I shared a nice Christmas Eve with our youngest son, Kyle at our home in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Christmas Day we traveled about 50 miles to Kearney, MO to be with our oldest son, Mike and his family, Lori (wife), Megan, Justin and Logan, our grandchildren.
Mark, my husband, is the son of Jim Williams and Phyllis Threadgold Williams. Mark is a brother to Dick, Michael Harvey, and Robin Gearhart.
So sorry to hear that Audrey had a rough Christmas. Hope you are feeling better now. Enjoy the extra time you will be able to share with your daughter's family while in St. Louis.
Wishing all the Threadgold's a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2008!

Update on Audrey Threadgold from Laurie
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families. We thank you for all the cards and letters. Unfortunately, Tyler's senior pictures were delayed and I wasn't able to get cards out this year.
Mom (Audrey) had horrible abdominal and back pain on Christmas Eve and we spent the evening in ER undergoing tests here in St. Louis. Christmas Day they found out here Bile duct was block which inflammed here liver and Gal Bladder that also caused all the pain. Her Gal Bladder was removed today at noon. The surgery went smooth and if she is ok tomorrow they may release her late afternoon. Dad and Mom will be staying with us until she is ready to travel home from St. Louis. She has been in so much pain since it started. I am checking in with the nurses and they are making sure she is comfortable when we are not at the hospital.
Give us a call anytime if you would like to check in with her 314-952-1959 (cell) 636-386-1959(home) or mom and dad's cell 605-376-1872.

Happy Holidays from LaBolt, SD
We are having a quiet Christmas with Josh, Carter, and Hayley. Hannah & Branden, Bianka & Keegan were here yesterday. Bianka helped Dale and I do the lightening of the advent candle ceremony at Christmas Eve service. I do not know why I say yes when they ask me. It is something neither of us like to do, but Bianka was happy to read her part.
My children are thinking I need to try some new holiday recipes. I tried one that the staff at school and my grandchildren liked called Snowman Poop. Mix 3 cups miniature marshmallows, 1 box cocoa puffs cereal, and 1/4 cup chopped peanuts. Melt 1 package chocolate almond bark and add to the other mixture. Stir until coated and spoon onto parchment paper to dry. Store in covered container.
I have been thinking about family traditions this morning. Dale's background is Swedish and Norwegian so potato sausage, rice pudding, and lefsa are a part of our holdiays. I have numerous Swedish decorations that we share with our church at our annual Christmas smorgasboard. I can remember lutefisk and lefsa being important to Avis. I even have my students playing Somerset, a card game that has fractions instead of suits that we used to play with Avis. I never really knew of any Threadgold traditions. Phyllis, Dawna, or Harlyn can you remember any? I do know there is a salad in the Fedora cookbook in memory of Gertrude Threadgold. As I remember, it has pineapple in it. That is something nobody except me eats. Mom had some fancy bowls and a cake plate that were gifts from Gertrude. Was this the kind of things she liked?

Merry Christmas from Minnesota
HI!Merry Christmas!!To all the Threadgold's!! And it is sure to be a white and icy one, as we got both rain & snow yesterday. But fortunately, our daughter Kaia arrived from New York City without too much of a delay. We are very glad to have her home for Christmas along with Derek and Janelle (whom live in Shakopee, Mn.), Ty (a student at South Dakota State U.) and Katie.
We started off the season with a Christmas gathering of all the Threadgold's that could make it last night. Janice and Don, came as well as their daughter Erin & husband Sachin; and son's Lucas and Wesley. Lynn Peterson (Harlyn & Audrey's daughter) and Mike, and son Carter joined us as well. Also, Ann and Michael, from South Bend Indiana, flew in just for the occasion. (Not really, due to a flight cancellation and lay-over on route to Sioux Falls). Kaia's high school friend, Kelli also came to spread a little cheer !! The more the merrier!! We fondued, had soup, visited, and laughed. A good time was had by all. So a Merry Christmas to all of you at your special family gatherings. Love, Kathie and Roger Nordtvedt (I'm daughter of Robert and Doris).

Harlyn Threadgold's in Brandon
Hi, I too am trying this for the first time! I think this is great and thank you to Betty for setting it up. I do not have a scanner so cannot send pictures at this time but would like to get one.
Yes, Betty we remember riding in Grandpa's sleigh. I remember the bells. He said each family had bells with a different ring so the neighbors knew who was going by from the sound of their bells. We would go out on the pond and ride around too. He had a heavy horse blanket we used to keep warm. These are good memories.
We went to Canistota today. Chad and Lou Ann had their baby Dylan Tyce baptized at the Missouri Lutheran Church in Canistota. Mike and Lynn from Minneapolis were Dylan's sponsors. Lee and Sid were there and Chad's parents, grandparents and sister were also there. Dylan wore Chad's grandfather's baptismal gown which is over 80 years old and his Grandpa Yackel was there to witness the event. Evan had also worn his gown. Big brother Evan was three on Thanksgiving day. All of our family were home (except Adam and family) for Thanksgiving this year. There were 18 of us.
We are going to St Louis for Christmas to be with Laurie and her family and then we will be going up to Minneapolis to Lynn and Mikes after Christmas. Chad and Lou Ann and their boys will be at Chad's folks in Butterfield, Minnesota and will be coming up to Lynn and Mikes too. Lynn and Mike have a little boy Carlter. Carter will be a year old on January 10, 2008.
It was good to read your blog Nancy. Will you be at your daughter's near St Louis for Christmas? If you are maybe we could get together?
Carrie, Lee and Sid's daughter, will be graduating from SDSU in Brookings on Saturday morning December 15th. We plan to go to the happy event. Carrie will be receiving a teaching degree. She has been doing her practice teaching at an elementary school in Brookings and loves it. We are so happy for her.
I received the RR letters last week so will get them on their way tomorrow. We have snow and it is very cold here tonight. Keep on bloggin.... Audrey

Santa Claus

I was just thinking about Santa Claus coming to LaBolt tomorrow and it brought back some memories. LaBolt is about Fedora size. Did anybody besides Robert Threadgold kids take sleigh rides with Harvey and his horses? I remember him being the Santa in Fedora. Maybe he did the same when our parents were kids. These are just images off the Internet that remind me of Christmas as a kid.

Roberts Family News
Hi everyone,
I got the information from Betty. I will give this a try, although I have never used a blog before. Karen, Linda, Russ, and I email a lot. We just moved to our new townhouse at Thanksgiving time. We still have lots of unpacking to do. Julie, Alan, Ryan, and Jennifer helped us move and shared Boston Market Thanksgiving dinner on plastic plates. The food was good and we had no dishes! :)
It was a bittersweet holiday. Julie had just lost the baby that was due in May.
Our new address is 6391 Cunningham Court, Gurnee, IL 60031.
All for now. Back to the pile of boxes.
Love, Nancy

Will give this a try--just received an e-mail from the President of ICBA on the outlook for the housing market and economy for the next couple of years, so will try to do something a little more pleasant. Couple inches of snow here, but to get to 40 tommorow--still seeing lots of pheasants, but have most run off our land from hunting pressure--killed somewhere around 900 so far this fall, should get a few more before the end of the season though. Deer hunting a big success for us also as Katie shot her own and I did also--nothing like Barry's or David's, but still had lots of fun. Planning on buying some duck hunting land up in North Dakota ---as a high school friend said, cannot have too much as am nearing retirement age. Don Threadgold, Fedora, SD,-so of Robert & Doris---have a small picture of Oscar Threadgold in the cremery that he operated here in Artesian, across the street from the present bank building where I work. Also while scanning the 1924 Artesian Commonwelth newspaper, saw where Oscar had a farm sale in the fall of '24 on his farm on the Miner-Sanborn County line about 5 miles south of now Hwy 34.

Hi! From Cottage Grove, MN.
HI! I'm Kathie Nordtvedt, daughter of Robert and Doris Threadgold. My husband Roger and I live here in the Twin Cities. Actually, the farthest south and east point of the Twin Cities that you can get. It snowed here yesterday, about 8 inches and it is COLD! We wish we had a little of the 112 degrees that we felt in Phoenix last summer up here right now. Jim & Phyllis you're probably enjoying your temperatures right now. Roger has a backache from shoveling snow. Enjoy the week ahead everyone. Kathie

This is just another try by a not so computer savy couple to see if we really have some news to add to the blog we can do it. Has anyone tried contacting Betty Lou's family to include them in the blogs?

Thanksgiving

The Robert Threadgold children held a gathering at Don and Janice's home south of Brookings Friday night. Those who attended: Janice and Don, Erin & Sachan, Megan & Jack, Lucas, Wesley, Donald and Kathleen, Barry, Nicole & Olivia, Theresa & Cole, Katie, Betty & Dale, Heidi, Kebba & Keeda, Hayley, & Keegan, Kathie & Roger, Katie & Ty, Bob's son Brian & Lori.
This was our first Thanksgiving without grandma. I brought her chocolate cake with brown sugar frosting. The frosting was a little soft. We had homemade ice cream, a childhood treat. Donald brought a jar of canned pheasant for everybody to take home. Some chased children. Others played games. Megan had cookies ready for the kids to decorate.
Sorry if I missed somebody or spelled a name wrong. Fix it.
Comments
I did not notice the comments before. If any Threadgolds are reading this, check out the comments. Dick & Bonnie and Jim & Phyllis are there.
I tried to add a picture this morning and could not get it to work. It just goes into html. If anybody knows what is wrong, let me know please. I figured it out. I needed to be on the Compose tab.
I have been thinking that I have heard that a Threadgold cousin was on the Titanic or some other ship that sunk. What does anybody know?

From Tucson, AZ
Hello everyone--
This is Joan Threadgold, daughter of Don and Kathleen. I'm am living in Tucson, AZ now doing a pharmacy residency at the VA hospital. This is a picture from last month when Laura (Threadgold) and Duane Barringer (in back seat) came to visit. We were on a gondola ride at the resort Laura and Duane stayed at. Laura came for a conference to speak on behalf of John Deere. Also in the picture is my finacee Bryan "Willy" Edwards. He's in Phoenix doing his pharmacy residency at the VA there. Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you, Betty.
Hello to all of the Threadgolds! I'm Joanie Threadgold Stevens. I see that my twin sis, Janie, has already signed in. Thank you, Betty, for getting this blog up and running. It will be fun to pop in and see what's going on with everyone. I'm sorry that Joyce Threadgold Dannebaum doesn't "do" computers. It would be fun to read about her news up in Santa Cruz. Janie suggested that we indicate our line so that we all know who you/we are. Excellent idea! Since we're out here in California and many of you are in S. Dakota I do believe that you will know who everyone is with more ease. Our parents both grew up in South Dakota. Ellen Hahn, our mother, grew up in Sioux Falls. Of course our father, Victor William, was raised in Artesian....... his parents being Hannah and Oscar Threadgold. Hopefully by now you all know that you are descendants of a Mayflower passenger, George Soule. Thanks to Robert and Doris Threadgold we learned of that fact a few years ago. We have applied and are now members of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. Best wishes to everyone for a happy holiday season. Think of our George Soule on Thanksgiving.

The children
It is interesting that reponses have come from afar. The four kids that have been pictured are grandchildren of Dale and Betty Anderson, daughter of Robert and Doris Threadgold, granddaughter of Harvey and Gertrude, and great-granddaughter of Oscar and Hannah. Kebba and Keeda are our daughter Heidi's while Bianka and Keegan are a second daughter, Hannah's. We have 2 other children Hayley and Josh and one other grandson, Carter.

Dear "Cousins",
I'm Janie Threadgold, daughter of Victor Threagold, who was a son of Oscar Christian Threadgold and Hannah Bergette Olesdatter Grøthaug. For those of you who probably don't know, we ALL are descended from those wonderful ancestors.
What a great idea to have a Threadgold blog! Now, it would be fun to get to know you a bit. If, when you would post your message, it would be neat to know how you are related in this Threadgold clan. That would really help me, and maybe others, a great deal.
My twin sister Joanie and I just returned from our cabin in the local mountains. Our folks built it in the early 1930's. Pretty neat huh.
Hugs to you all,
Janie

Hello everyone,
What a great idea to get this going. Dad sent me the link so we will join in with all of you to keep up on the families. We got a new puppy a few months ago so it's a busy schedule. Our 13 year old German Shepherd has been very good to the new arrival. We are including a picture of the two of them. The puppy's name is Sadie, and our old girl is Nala.
Love to all,

This is my first blog. I'm giving it a shot -- never too old to try something new, I guess.
Don is done mowing at the golf course. Now he has to look for a new retirement job. He already has the Christmas tree up and all the Christmas stuff out of storage. I'm still trying to enjoy my fall and Thanksgiving stuff!

Blogging
I just took an internet class: Blogs, Wikis, and Podcasts. One of the assignments was to set up a blog, which I am now doing. Blogs are supposed to be the greatest and rank way above e-mail. Not being familiar with them, I could not say this is true. Anyway, all of us should be able to write and post pictures for everybody to see. I think you can comment to any of the posts, but you should create a new post when you want to share something. I tried this with Janice already. She thought it was not that easy to set up an account and both she and Hayley commented rather than posted like I thought they should. So, I made an account that we can all use. I will e-mail directions after I have a trial run with Hayley and Janice.
