Deep Brain Stimulation--A Success!!
HI! I went to Mayo this morning and did my first test run to see if the probs worked. I went into my appointment without being on my meds and the electrical current that goes through them worked. We started off at a low number increasing as the months go by-- with an increase in the stimulation the medication I take will decrease which is what I'm looking for. A success! No, I'm not sure that they want me, or I wazn't to be on camera. But I did see myself on the TV so that may have taped it for their purposes only!!
I did agree to be in a research study for my surgeron. He had designed a device that had a speical tip on the end of it which could read the chemicals in the part of the brain that should have no chemicals. I was the second person on the study, the first one came out okay!! So I agreed. They found dopamine in my brain, dhe told me we made history!!! Now I don't what he will do with this reasearch. My guess is that he ask why does she have dopamine (lots of it) and why isn't it working.! Kathie
