Research Study

Hi! I forgot mention, I agreed to be a part of a new research study by mr surgeron Dr. Lee. He designed a special devise that would go into the same spot of my brain as they are going. But it Has a special tip that will read the demicals of the brain (specifically, where the lack of it causes parkinson's). I was patient #2 to agree to it. Well, he proceeded into my brain and wouldnt you know it i have lots of dopamine!! They were shocked; that we made history; I would only know this because I was a wake and the crew of 15 doctors who were working on me all cheered!
Now as to what will they do with this I don't know. I'm sure he is asking if she has dopamine why isn't it working? Anyway, anotherbit of history. Kathie

Deep Brain Stimulation--A Success!!

HI! I went to Mayo this morning and did my first test run to see if the probs worked. I went into my appointment without being on my meds and the electrical current that goes through them worked. We started off at a low number increasing as the months go by-- with an increase in the stimulation the medication I take will decrease which is what I'm looking for. A success!
