"Old Days On The Praire" by Tom Kilian Most of the stories in this book are intended as a general portrait of what was going on in Miner County and in the village of Vilas between the first and second World Wars. It is a collection of places and events of what life was like in the years from about 1920 to 1940. Yes, Fedora is mentiioned. I purchased by copy at the Center for Western Studies on the campus of Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
The next book is "Tales of Old Dakota" also by Dr. Kilian. . This is a radom collection of accounts of his personal adventures and topics of his personal curiosity of places and events in South Dakota. Page 159 in the book reads in part:: "In the museum on the State Fair Grounds at Huron, SD there is mounted on the wall just inside the front door, a rusty sword. The sword was placed there by the Threadgold family, southwet of Fedora in Miner County, who found it on their farm in 1950. It is a military sword......... " Harlyn plowed up this sword. They had plowed that field many times so he was very surprised when he saw it sticking up in the soil. This book is out of print but I have two used copies if anyone would care to borrow one. We visited the museum in Huron and saw the sword. I believe the museum is only open during Fair week or that was the case when we visited it. Thought someone might be interested. Audrey Threadgold
